Each year Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) hosts our anniversary dinner, a signature event that benefits AJSOCAL through the generous support of individuals, companies, and foundations.
The gala celebrates AJSOCAL’s accomplishments throughout the year and highlights our programs and services. Additionally, we honor those who have made a significant impact on the community. The event includes elected officials, community partners, members of the Asian American bar associations and leaders from the arts, culture, and media as well as corporate, legal, and nonprofit sectors. It has become one of the most anticipated fundraising events in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.
Less than 2 weeks prior to the 2026 mid-term elections, AJSOCAL calls on leaders, community members, and change-makers to come together for our 43rd Anniversary Gala themed United In Action: Charging Forward. The event will be hosted by David Ono, award-winning journalist and storyteller. Ono has long highlighted issues and voices from the AAPI community. The evening will feature a very special performance by American folk singer and activist Nobuko Miyamoto who, at 86 years old, remains a luminary in the Asian American movement. Her 1973 album A Grain of Sand: Music for the Struggle by Asians in America is recognized as the first album of Asian American music. In 1987, she founded Great Leap, where she has spent nearly five decades creating art like the FandangObon Festival that uses music, dance, and storytelling to bridge cultures and build community. This year, AJSOCAL is accepting sponsorships and opportunities to attend or support at with an individual ticket option at $500.
The event is on Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30pm-9pm PST. Dress code is cocktail-attire.
