FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, AUG 15, 2024, LOS ANGELES Today, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) launches the Migrant Resource Hub. This digital resource contains the key information migrants need upon arrival in the U.S. and services that AJSOCAL provides. Links to federal and state resources and more information are also provided on the webpage. The website is currently translated in five languages: English, Chinese, Hindi, Korean and Vietnamese. Access to the Hub is free to all at https://ajsocal.org/migrant-resources
With the recent spike in Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian migrant arrivals at the U.S. – Mexico border, there are dire lacks in basic humanitarian and housing services. The crucial need for in-language and culturally competent assistance for Asian migrants creates access barriers to information, safety, food, water and sanitation. The Migrant Resource Hub serves as a source of reliable information to help Asian migrants who have crossed the southern border or who live in Southern California.
The Migrant Resource Hub provides information and resources on immigration services, such as immigration relief eligibility screenings for SIJS, T-Visa, TPS, U-Visa and VAWA; family-based immigration assistance; removal defense; consultations; and legal advice for immigration-related questions and concerns. The website also provides warnings on how to identify immigration fraud, helping protect migrants from fraudulent legal services. In addition, the Hub gives a summary of workers’ rights and signs of illegal activity and trafficking. Migrant Resource Hub provides information regarding DACA renewal assistance, support with citizenship applications and domestic violence/family law services to help victims of human trafficking and domestic or family-based violence escape their abusers.
In further support of Asian migrants, AJSOCAL will protect the civil liberties through litigation that holds people and institutions accountable for violating their rights and dignity.
Asian migrants are encouraged to connect with AJSOCAL to get information about their rights and where to get help. Staff are available to provide in-language support for recent arrivals, migrants, and community members. AJSOCAL hotlines are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday in eight different languages:
