2024 ELECTION CONTINGENCY PLANNING

To plan together for possible futures that will impact our clients, communities, and ourselves.

We anticipate vastly different outcomes for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities based upon who wins the Presidential election in November.

Although we don’t know for sure what’s to come, we have the benefit of knowing Harris’ past record as the current Vice President and Trump’s past record as the former President to help us predict what might happen when one of them takes office.

AJSOCAL is planning our program priorities for 2025 and beyond based upon a Harris or a Trump Administration. We are in the process of developing a road map under each Administration for what we anticipate will be key issues for our AAPI communities and how AJSOCAL should be prepared to respond. As we develop this, we want to share it with you in real time, including our thought processes, our priorities and our planning documents.

This site is our work-in-progress, which we will update publicly with new entries, videos, and worksheets. You won’t see polished, final pieces. Rather, the site might look slightly messy and unpolished because it is quickly evolving. We are doing it this way for several reasons:

Contingency Planning Process & Worksheets: We hope that this site might help other community-based organizations and partners as they think about how to conduct their own contingency planning. Every organization will have different priorities or strategies they can anticipate based upon their areas of work or communities they serve. We hope the planning process and blank worksheets we develop might be helpful. This is why we are posting step-by-step in the order we complete tasks. You will find AJSOCAL’s filled out worksheets, but empty templates you can download and use yourselves.
Identifying Priorities for AAPI Communities: AAPI community members and allies may be wondering which policies from a Harris versus Trump Administration might have the biggest or most direct impact on AAPI communities, particularly for social justice. Whether that is immigration, language access, racial justice, public benefits, or others, this site can provide a preview on some of those issues that AJSOCAL has identified and what their impact might be for our communities, whether good or bad.
Roadmap for 2025 & Beyond: For AJSOCAL supporters and friends, once the election results are in, AJSOCAL will be ready to pivot into the work ahead based on who takes office. You’ll know right away what AJSOCAL’s plan of action will be, what work we plan to prioritize, and how we will be moblize quickly based on what’s on this site.
